Full Job Description

To work primarily for the Caledonia Water Alliance Team who are responsible for design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Scotland.
As the Temporary Works design engineer, you will support a project from engagement to completion and be accountable for all aspects of the TW planning. You will be responsible for ensuring that the appropriate temporary works solutions are considered. Costs are captured at each of the capex stages, methodology and buildability of each available option, before making a selection. Presenting it to the Project Manager for that particular project.
You will also be responsible for carrying out Cat 2&3 checks the temporary works on all of CWA's and their sub-contractors' sites.

You will also be responsible for carrying out Cat 2&3 checks the temporary works on all of CWA's and their sub-contractors' sites.
The Temporary Works Engineer role is to support the project team from engagement to completion. Be accountable for all aspects of the Temporary works planning. You will be responsible for ensuring that all TW activities are planned and executed to the highest standards. In accordance with the CWA and Scottish Water requirement.
Key Task and responsibilities include

- Preparing and checking a variety of temporary works designs. Including, crane platforms, temporary roads, dam systems, propping, timber formwork, limpet dams, ground shoring using proprietary equipment, timber and structural steel, timber headings, well-pointing, thrust blocks, scaffolding, hoarding, silt fences, gabion basket walls, river crossings, thrust walls etc.
- Conducting regular reviews of CWA TW procedures and processes, to ensure compliance with legal requirements and adopting latest industry best practices.
- Preparing and sourcing temporary works costings for the estimating team while they prepare total costs for projects ranging in value from £100k to £15m.
- Advising on the appropriate temporary works methodologies
- Preparing and checking a variety of temporary works designs. Including, crane platforms, temporary roads, dam systems, propping, timber formwork, limpet dams, ground shoring using proprietary equipment, timber and structural steel, timber headings, well-pointing, thrust blocks, scaffolding, hoarding, silt fences, gabion basket walls, river crossings, thrust walls etc.
- Preparing temporary works sections of Project Delivery Plans
- Assisting with SEPA applications.
- Providing technical support and advice to the delivery teams

Communications

- Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
- Holds regular status meetings with project teams.
- Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
- Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
- Active member of the operations team driving the project forward whilst embracing innovation and alternate ways of working.
