We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified Junior School Teacher from October 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for the education and pastoral care of all children in a Junior 4 class, working in partnership with specialist subject teachers and other support staff.

Our Junior School is based at Knockbuckle Road, adjacent to the park and surrounded by extensive woodland with ample opportunities for outdoor learning. We are a Microsoft school with all staff and pupils having access to Office 365. Junior School class teachers benefit from working with small class sizes and children with a mixed spread of abilities. Planned lessons should always be differentiated in order for every pupil to work to the best of their ability. Junior School Class Teachers work closely with specialist subject teachers in Music, Drama, Physical Education and Modern Foreign Languages to maximise interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Classes are expected to present their learning around one of their topics with a showcase to parents/guardians in conjunction with the Music and Performing Arts department. The ideal candidate will also be willing to participate in the extra-curricular life of the School by running a lunchtime club of their choosing. There is also an expectation for class teachers to assist with occasional afterschool events and two Saturday mornings per session to assist the PE Department with supervision of pupils taking part in rugby or hockey fixtures.

Identify up-to-date, relevant resources to support learning and teaching
Make effective use of ICT to support learning
Engage in the School’s PRD process
Create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships with all colleagues
Role model the School’s values
Implement all school policies, especially Safeguarding and Behaviour and promote high expectations for achievement, appearance and behaviour among all learners
Contribute to the School’s Improvement Plan and to self-evaluation activity within the Junior School
Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, pupils and outside agencies
Promote the extracurricular offerings at the School through the provision of a club for pupils in Junior 3 to Junior 6
Attend Parents’ Evenings and other extra-curricular events
Write detailed reports for parents
Carry out supervision duties as requested by the Management Team
Any other reasonable task requested by the Rector and/or Depute Rector, Junior School

ACCOUNTABILITY The class teacher is accountable to the Depute Rector, Junior School.
