The role also requires the flexibility to support the development and operational delivery of the wider PMO/Business Planning services. This could include the development of planning standards, processes, governance, and reporting needed to set projects up for success as our business grows at pace.

This will include planning the full programme/project lifecycle (development through to construction and commissioning), dependency management, ensuring alignment with PMO standards and processes, and ongoing critical path analysis.

- Support the quantification of risk and issue impacts on project schedules, agreeing mitigating actions, and tracking progress and delivery of those actions.

- Maintaining a clear view of the project baseline and tracking progress against it, as well as monitoring milestones, resources, budget loading and profiling. Coordination of inputs and progress updates across multi-disciplinary teams.

- Actively driving the development of plans, including close working with project teams, and interacting with the wider SSE teams, sub-contractors and external partners or clients to ensure plans are coherent, practicable, realistic, and up to date.

- Actively supporting project collaborative planning and recovery planning exercises. Identifying the critical path for the project and work packages to ensure potential delays to critical activities are identified and mitigated.

- Support the assessment and implementation of change into project schedules, working with our internal project teams and our Contractors to agree the impact of change on our project plans.

Demonstrable experience in planning using Primavera P6. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Project.

- Demonstrable competence in working collaboratively to develop plans from conception through to construction and completion.

- Working Project Planning experience, ideally having worked within large, multi-contract Engineering and Construction projects (electricity, water, oil/gas, rail, highways, major buildings etc.), including building fully integrated complex activity networks.

- Ability to assist Project Management decision making by providing clear analysis of the impacts of schedule delays. Provide mitigation strategies to remove or reduce the impact of project delay and change.
