The Client

Brightwork are supporting our client with the recruitment of a Fire and Security Engineer. Our client is a leading provider of fire, intruder, CCTV, and access control systems, dedicated to delivering exceptional service and customer satisfaction.

The Role – Senior Fire and Security Engineer

As a Fire and Security Engineer, your primary responsibility will be the servicing and maintenance of intruder, CCTV, and access control systems in accordance with current standards.

Type: Full-time, permanent

Shifts: Monday – Friday

Work Location: On the road (Scotland)

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Servicing and maintaining various intruder, CCTV, and access control systems.
  • Working towards and exceeding maintenance and fault-finding targets.
  • Demonstrating systems for customers and explaining details such as the causes and consequences of false alarms.
  • Performing corrective and preventative maintenance of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and portable extinguishers.
  • Commissioning/Handover of GENT & Advanced Fire Alarm systems.
  • Participating in an On-Call Rota for out-of-hours callouts and telephone support.
  • Installing both conventional and analogue addressable fire alarm systems to a high standard of workmanship.
  • Installing/commissioning portable extinguishers.
  • Understanding clients’ needs and fulfilling all required jobs.
  • Any other reasonable requests from management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong fault-finding skills with a focus on first-time fixes.
  • Proven background and experience working within fire engineering.
  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of various intruder panels (e.g., Galaxy, Menvier, Scantronic).
  • Experience with Network/IP based products.
  • Experience in service and repair work.
  • Experience with conventional and addressable fire systems across a range of manufacturers' equipment.
  • Good installation practices.
  • Knowledge of integration of detection systems into other disciplines would be advantageous.
  • Full understanding of BS5839 is essential.
  • Full driving license.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of GENT & Advanced Fire Alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with VESDA & Other Aspirating manufacturers.
  • Electrical background.
  • ICEL accreditation of emergency lighting.
  • FIA Service & Maintenance of Fire Extinguishers.
  • Good overall fire product knowledge.
