Full Job Description

As the IT Director, you will lead the IT department, comprising around 35 permanent staff. Your primary responsibility will be to provide visionary leadership in realising a business-aligned, scalable IT estate that delivers synergies, cost efficiencies, and high-performing, resilient systems.

You will spearhead the execution of Calmac s Digital and Data strategies, playing a pivotal role in the company's Transition Programme. This includes overseeing key initiatives centred on Finance, HR, and Asset Management systems solutions. Furthermore, you will drive digital excellence across the organisation, fostering a culture of innovation and embracing the "art of the possible" in IT.

  • You will need to have previous proven leadership experience in managing an IT function, setting clear objectives, priorities, and effectively managing performance.

  • Expertise in leading digital initiatives, modernizing IT operating models, and embracing a cloud-first service approach with a focus on customer and staff experience, and value generation.

  • A track record as a technology-led driver of change and continuous improvement across all business functions.

  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective engagement with diverse stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.

  • Demonstrable success in leading significant IT transformational change projects.

  • Relevant professional qualifications, such as MIET, MAPM, MBCS, or SOCITM.

  • Certification or experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solutions, IT Operations, and Continuous Improvement.

  • Expertise in reservations and ticketing technologies (preferred), modern corporate services (Cloud ERP), and Modern Workplace technology and methods.

  • A commercial, innovative, and effective approach to IT business development and operational improvement.

  • Experience in leading design thinking, hack days, and improvement activities to drive digital change.

  • Basic salary up to £120,000
