Full Job Description

 

Our client is currently recruiting a Project Manager who will coordinate and complete projects, on time, within budget and within scope to deliver the expected financial result for the business. As Project Manager you will be responsible for the commercial arrangements with the customer, technical product development and when necessary a purchasing function with suppliers.

You will respond to customer enquiries respecting the need for profit; developing packaging solutions bearing in mind cost, sustainability, quality and lead times; selecting suppliers based on criteria of cost, sustainability, quality and lead-time; developing new accounts from the prospects allocated annually.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the customer enquiry, verifying feasibility and proposing alternatives.
  • Prepare the commercial offer and project plan (i.e. plan back from delivery date)
  • Submit it to the customer with a sample and ensure follow up takes place
  • Negotiate, and adjust the commercial offer if required. Liaise with the Key Account Lead when necessary
  • On receipt of the enquiry, liaise with the necessary departments and prepare the technical specification including the choice of materials and the manufacturing method.
  • Working with The Designer, assist in the pack design and co-ordinate sample of the pack for submission to the customer.
  • Once project is won, launch the development through the co-ordination of the launch meeting and finalise the specification and agreed production route.
  • Ensure one sample is signed and returned by the client for initial production run and remains on file thereafter
  • Complete all the cutter drawings.
  • Establish the project plan for the customer which acts as the checklist and review document throughout the development
  • Participate in establishing the accept/reject criteria( AQL) with the Quality department.
  • Monitor the start of production and the running of the job is in-line with agreed technical sheet. 
  • In conjunction with Supply chain, consults suppliers in the preparation of quotations
  • Negotiate with suppliers, check the offers and select suppliers in line with the supplier selection criteria of the company
  • Orders samples of the relevant componentry to be signed off for production purposes and where appropriate these are signed off in the final pack sign off by customer

  • Production methods
  • Experience in the packaging or print industry
  • Negotiating techniques
  • Goods in and final inspection knowledge
  • Commercial law
  • Raw materials, box-making principles and processes
  • Understand 2D and 3D layouts
  • Printing techniques
  • Principles of time management and prioritisation
