Unwrap a new career in accountancy

A few years ago Forbes Magazine did the sums on whether or not Santa pays tax. After crunching the numbers on reindeer fodder, wages for elves and resolving whether or not the red suit is a uniform (they decided it was just his normal clothes and therefore not deductible), they concluded yes he does – to the US government.

They based this on the rather dodgy premise American children post their letters to The North Pole, which is a suburb of Fairbanks in Alaska.

Wrong on all fronts!

Currently, Canada, Russia and Denmark have all staked a claim with the United Nations for ownership of the real North Pole and even the youngest citizen on the planet knows Santa actually operates a gift economy.

Which begs the question, how can you tax someone who will hand over a Hatchimal or an XBox One and get nothing more than a mince pie and a glass of whisky in return?

Well, while you may not be called upon to sort out Santa’s financial position, follow up any of the top notch Accountancy roles on s1jobs and who knows whose tangled taxes you may end up helping to unravel?

There’s a job match in this sector, whatever your age and stage of career profession, and they are spread all over Scotland.

In fact, if you’re good with figures, there is no shortage of employers keen to get you on board.

After all, accountancy skills are some of the most sought-after talents in the business world – and it doesn’t matter whether you’re an accounts assistant, a payroll administrator, a credit risk manager or a tax consultant, there are loads of openings in all kinds of businesses, from global to local.

From internet shopping sites that help Santa sort out Christmas admin to adhesive manufacturers who make the glue for all those gift labels, as well as the mince pie makers and hard-working whisky distilleries – they all rely on people just like you to keep their accounts up to date.

So, even if this year you’re not required to count carrots, cost the crackers and balance the books on the naughty and nice lists, a new career start courtesy of s1jobs could still turn out to be your best Christmas present yet.
