Blackwood has built its reputation as a leading housing and care provider on the strongest of foundations: its Support Workers.
These dedicated and passionate people are the bedrock of its care services.
They share an all-important value that’s absolutely essential for Blackwood, allowing it to deliver the highest quality care: a passion for helping people to live their lives to the full.
If you’re seeking a role that allows you to fulfill your own dream of helping others, Blackwood is currently recruiting for Support Workers right across Scotland.
And to support growth in the organisation it will be recruiting these roles for the foreseeable future.
Are you ready to join the Blackwood team and deliver care to customers who are vulnerable adults with disabilities or age-related illnesses?
Well, the good news is, anyone over the age of 16 can apply now to become a Support Worker.
And don’t worry if you’ve never worked in care before.
Although some professional or personal experience in caring for others, as well as a current PVG licence, will be an advantage for candidates, Blackwood is more interested in your values and why you want to work with the group.
It can also provide in-house training. In fact, it offers a comprehensive induction process, including e-learning and on-the-job training.
It’s also extremely supportive in giving all of its employees the best opportunities to build their skills and experience with the organisation.
With services that cover most of Scotland, it has three regional offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Stirling and a head office in Edinburgh.
No matter where you’re based, however, your Support Worker responsibilities will see you focused on delivering care where it most matters – in customers’ homes.
A typical Support Worker’s early shift starts at 7:30am, while a late shift finishes at around 10:30pm.
You’ll start the day by visiting your first customer and delivering the care outlined in a tailor-made care plan.
This might include assisting with some of life’s fundamentals – such as helping the person to get up, use the toilet, wash or shower and get dressed.
Sometimes you’ll work with a colleague but mostly you’ll work alone, so teamwork and the ability to act on your own initiative are equally important.
Other types of care you might deliver in a typical day could involve preparing a meal, prompting and issuing medication, housework, shopping and sometimes taking a customer to a social event.
In all of this is a dedication to offer care that’s entirely focused on providing a truly personalised and individual service.
If you have a passion for helping that can match this, Blackwood’s current vacancies, all of which are available right here on s1jobs, could see you realise your dream job – helping others live their lives to the full.
