I like to move it, move it!
Call and contact centre workers are required to spend much of their working day or night sitting at a desk – so it’s important to keep as active as possible, both in and out of the office.
Taking regular breaks to stretch your legs and ‘decompress’ is essential.
Consider implementing some gentle outdoor exercise into your daily routine too – your muscles and joints will thank you for it!
Be a star of the screen
Screen time is unavoidable for those who work in call and contact centres but ensuring this is kept under control can make a real difference – even if this just means taking a couple of minutes’ break from the computer every half hour.
Evidence also suggests that toning down the brightness on screens can help to minimise any potential negative effects, such as tired eyes.
Find the keys to success
Clacking away on a keyboard may seem an easy task but repetitive strain injury can be a side-effect.
Prevention is better than a cure so we suggest ensuring your workstation is ‘ergonomically optimised’ – that’s just fancy talk for positioning your monitor, keyboard and mouse so you aren’t straining anything.
Having adjustable seating is a must, too, as is being mindful of your posture. Back straight, shoulders up . . . thank you!
Easy does it, tiger!
It can be tempting to reach for another teacake between calls or emails but with the often sedentary nature of the call and contact centre role, this can quickly become a fast track to bad habits.
Keep some healthy snacks on hand instead and a water bottle (in reusable plastic) – staying hydrated can help alleviate sluggishness and boost your mental functions.
