The UK’s largest specialist motor insurer is hiring 100 new employees over the next 12 months. ERS also plans to invest in training at its offices in Swansea.
The company has already doubled its size there in three years, with a current staff of more than 450.
So what’s special about ERS? It provides insurance for cars that are a little bit different – such as classic models and exclusive supercars for race events such as the Gumball 3000 Rally . . . oh, and combine harvesters.
But you don’t have to be dealing with Flailing Machines and Ferraris if you want to enjoy great career opportunities in specialist insurance.

Travel
When Granny Ina wanted to go paragliding in Patagonia she found it wasn’t so easy for pensioners to buy travel insurance – especially for such exotic adventures.
In fact, an OAP policy can be more expensive than the trip itself.
The good news for Granny Ina is there are specialist firms offering coverage.
Their professionals will talk potential customers through the need to list any pre-existing medical conditions such as arthritis or high blood pressure.
They’ll make sure a policy includes emergency medical treatment costs and repatriation – while rebalancing the cost against the removal of coverage for things like high-adrenaline sports activities (well, unless you’re Granny Ina!).
Gadgets
This type of specialist insurance is especially popular with students. Naturally, they want to have all their latest hardware with them when they’re at college or university.
The bad news is student accommodation is not always the safest place for the latest phones or tablets.
Insurance agents who understand the importance of gadgets for studying and recreation must balance this against the danger of theft and damage – especially liquid damage at Freshers’ Week!
They can also offer options such as cover for a single gadget or multiple cover for a range of phones, laptops, headphones and, of course, games consoles.
Charities
Charity insurance brokers normally work with a wide variety of groups, from small voluntary bodies to national and even global organisations.
As well as elements such as public liability, they must also look at how charities hold their sensitive data and how strong their defence is from cyber attacks.
There’s extra job satisfaction in knowing you’ve helped protect the folks doing good in the world.
