From reality TV shows to soaps with a legal twist, we just can’t get enough of law action.

Perhaps that’s why Sky TV has decided to pilot a brand new legal chat show, aimed at explaining all the nitty gritty of the industry.

legal 2From conveyancing to wills to small claims technicalities and jargon, LawCatz aims to demystify the complexities of the legal profession – allowing us mere mortals to get to grips with the finer details.

No objections here, your honour!

So, if counsel will kindly approach the bench, we’ll give you a run-down of some of the top legal TV shows that have had us all hooked.

Show all Legal jobs across Scotland

Judge Judy

As the world’s favourite tough-talking judge, Judy Sheindlin has held court as a reality TV legal queen for more than 22 years.

Presiding over thousands of small claims cases, she previously enjoyed a lengthy career as a New York family court judge.

Often overly-sensational, the show is a staple of daytime TV and the iconic judge is scheduled to be on our screens till at least 2021.

That’s true staying power that should motivate any young solicitor seeking promotion on s1jobs.

Suits

Already a firm favourite in the US, Suits gained popularity in the UK when cast member, Meghan Markle became an honorary Brit and married Prince Harry.

This stylish and slick show focuses on a talented legal associate with a guilty secret . . he never actually attended law school.

Prospective legal eagles take note: some educational background in law is usually a prerequisite!

How to Get Away with Murder

Another US import, featuring Oscar nominee Viola Davis, this is slick, dramatic, nerve-wracking and, well, completely fantastical.

We’re not sure Scotland’s wannabe criminal lawyers can take gain much insight from the plotlines but murder, blackmail, intrigue and a smattering of legal jargon make for the perfect blend of escapism.

Judge Rinder

Britain’s answer to Judge Judy, Judge Robert Rinder has enjoyed reality TV success overseeing civil cases.

Stylised for entertainment purposes (a gavel isn’t typically used in UK courtrooms), this show is already in to its sixth series – a testament to the growing popularity of the legal genre.

The list of legal TV gems is endless . . . and thankfully, so too, is the list of Legal roles you can land with vacancies from s1jobs.

From lawyer to legal secretary, there’s something for every aspiring law-lover.
