For those in a senior role, it’s worth pulling out the key information which will highlight why you have a higher level of expertise and professionalism than the average employee. In a senior position cover letter, this needs to be made as obvious as possible at first glance, with examples scattered throughout the cover letter.
What to include:
Bulleted list.
Pull out the experience you’ve had by including a bullet point list of your best managerial assets in the middle of the main body. These should highlight your skills, both professionally and on a personal level.
Show you’re familiar with the business.
Use specific examples and mention the company you’re applying to by name to show that you’ve read up on and are interested in this specific role.
Use the opening paragraph wisely.
The first paragraph of your cover letter should succinctly mention why you’d be a good fit, your total experience and a statement of intent for wanting to help the company in some way. This can be brief, as long as you expand on it in the main body.
The best kind of template:
Similar to a more junior role, the best kinds of senior position, or managerial, cover letters are those which make their points efficiently and concisely. The key difference here is to include the all-important bullet point section to pull out their best assets and core skills.
