Associate – Investment Origination 

Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow 

The Scottish National Investment Bank is looking for a passionate and driven Associate to join our Investment Origination team. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to Scotland’s transition to a net-zero economy by supporting key investment transactions in offshore wind, climate tech, and the broader energy supply chain. 

As an Associate, you will play a key role in identifying, structuring, and executing successful investment opportunities across the Net Zero and energy transition sectors. You’ll provide support in developing financial, commercial, and impact models, as well as contributing to the end-to-end investment process, from research and due diligence to stakeholder engagement and investment presentations. 

We are seeking candidates with an understanding of financial analysis, the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, and a commitment to making a tangible impact on Scotland’s sustainable future. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Investment Support: Assist the Investment Origination team with identifying, structuring, and executing investment opportunities in the Net Zero and energy supply chain sectors. 
• Financial & Impact Modelling: Create and refine financial, commercial, and impact models to guide decision-making and ensure alignment with the Bank’s strategic goals. 
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain professional networks within the energy and innovation ecosystem, actively supporting origination efforts. 
• Team Collaboration: Support the preparation of internal presentations and investment papers, ensuring all transactions align with Bank policies, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards. 
• Project Management: Provide general project management support and contribute to broader Bank-wide initiatives. 

About You: 

• A degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field coupled with Professional qualifications (e.g., CA, CFA) are highly regarded. 
• Experience in M&A, investment banking, or a corporate transactional role is desirable. 
• Proven financial analysis and modelling skills, with excellent Excel proficiency. 
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of stakeholders. 
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team. 
• Alignment with the Bank’s mission and values.

At the Scottish National Investment Bank, we offer a salary range of £51-59k, depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days annual leave, public holidays, a 12% non-contributory pension, and more.
