Role Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the growth of our UK North America/Long Haul (NALH) market. This role is perfect for someone with strong business development experience in the inbound tourism industry, who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about client relationships.
You will be responsible for driving business growth, responding to client enquiries creatively and professionally, and collaborating closely with the team to develop tailored travel solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Management: Build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients, ensuring prompt, professional responses to inquiries.
- Business Development: Promote our destinations and services, ensuring conversion of inquiries into confirmed bookings.
- Programme Development: Oversee the creation and costing of group travel programs, ensuring they align with client needs.
- System Utilisation: Use Tourplan NX and CRM systems for quoting, tracking, and managing leads.
- Sales & Marketing: Execute both virtual and in-person sales activities, including client visits.
- Leadership: Manage a team of staff and trainees, ensuring high performance and client satisfaction.
- Strategic Contribution: Participate in business strategy discussions and contribute to team forums.
- On-Call Support: Participate in the 24-hour on-call rota, providing ongoing client and staff support.
Who We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of the North American and UK inbound tourism markets.
- Experience in the UK tourism industry.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Commercial mindset with experience in meeting KPIs and sales targets.
- Strong communication skills, both with clients and within teams.
- Client-focused, with a passion for exceeding expectations.
Desirable:
- Degree in business, tourism, or languages (optional).
- International travel experience in a similar role.
