Role Summary :
This role will lead our climate risk assessment and adaptation work, and partner with finance to conduct refreshed climate scenario analysis for strategic decision making and reporting purposes. It will become expert and provide subject matter expertise on climate risk adaptation to the organisation.
The role is also a key support to the carbon and energy manager role, to support the development of decarbonisation strategy and provide subject matter expertise on decarbonisation and carbon reporting to markets and categories.
Responsibilities and accountabilities
Climate:
- Lead the programme of climate risk adaptation (project Hypatia) working in partnership with consultants and markets to deliver a value-optimised climate risk adaptation approach for priority sites.
- Develop Diageo standard for climate risk adaptation.
- Consolidate and catalogue our climate risk assessments and scenario analyses to improve accessibility and applicability to markets and categories, supporting best in class adaptation plans.
- Conduct refreshed climate risk assessment and work in partnership with finance to refresh climate risk scenario analysis and identify risks and opportunities for climate adaptation action.
Carbon:
- Build expertise in insets, offsets and energy certificates to support Carbon and Energy Manager
- Become subject matter expert on specific areas of carbon accounting, reporting and decarbonisation levers, supporting the delivery of our mitigation strategy.
- Lead development of sections of Diageo's Net Zero Transition Plan
- Provide subject matter expertise to support the Carbon and Energy Manager and market partnership teams to build robust roadmaps and plans to achieve our net zero goals.

Understanding of Diageo operations and supply chain, particularly in relation to sources of carbon emissions and climate risks and vulnerabilities
- Ability to quickly build expert level knowledge of climate adaptation and mitigation including risk assessment, quantification, adaptation options, and the levers available for decarbonisation and their associated risks and opportunities.
- Ability to think strategically and communicate strategy in an engaging and understandable way, at all organisational levels.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and markets to reach alignment on decarbonisation (mitigation) and climate resilience (adaptation) strategies and associated and the associated roles and responsibilities across the organisation required to implement these strategies effectively.
- Science, Engineering or Sustainability related degree or equivalent experience
- Experience leading carbon reporting and/or climate adaptation or mitigation.
- Ability to simplify and present highly complex data in an engaging way.
