  • Valuation and Taxation: Providing insightful advice on valuations and apportionments to support national taxation initiatives.
  • Support for Public Bodies: Offering comprehensive property advice and valuations to Other Public Bodies (OPBs), enabling them to effectively carry out their regulatory and legislative duties.
  • Government Policy Implementation: Assisting in the delivery of government policies and estate strategies, particularly in contexts where public functions and funding are involved.

Join the District Valuer Service and be part of a dedicated team that plays a crucial role in shaping public sector property valuation across the nation., We are looking for an experienced Chartered Surveyor to take on a leadership role within our organization. In this position, you will provide guidance and management to a regional team of professionals, including senior Chartered Surveyors and developing surveyors. You will be responsible for overseeing high-quality valuation casework for our DVS clients. This role offers an excellent opportunity to mentor talent while managing complex valuation projects across the region. This is a technical surveying and leadership role, primarily involving managing a team, advising on complex casework and project management. We are looking for an experienced manager who is passionate about inspiring and motivating teams to achieve exceptional results. This role would suit someone who loves managing and developing teams and getting the best out of their people. As a key member of our management team, you'll bring your passion and enthusiasm for leadership to develop our future leaders, identifying opportunities for development, growth and improvement. This will include working closely with your team members, providing feedback, coaching, guiding and implementing development plans. Chartered Surveyor - Team leader - Key responsibilities The role involves:
  • Providing leadership to a regional team including monitoring operational performance against strategic objectives while providing value for money.
  • Applying an advanced level of valuation surveying knowledge to casework activity, quality control of teamwork and project management.
  • Effectively managing the team's performance through coaching and development discussions and taking proactive action where poor performance/attendance within the team is identified.
  • Creating and promoting an inclusive working environment that values everyone for their individual contributions.
  • Understanding and engaging the team regarding plans for change and encouraging and supporting innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively working as part of a national team where liaison and flexible and smart working are paramount.
  • Identifying risks and issues and making recommendations on action to be taken.
  • Regular travel will be expected to offices within the region you line manage this includes visiting the Edinburgh Office one day per week. Travel to meetings and events outside of your region will also be expected (some overnight stays may be required). We are reasonable with our expectations and provide flexible working arrangements to support this need.
