Full Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

The Finance Business Partner will act as a key liaison between the finance function and operational teams, providing strategic financial insights, analysis and support to drive business performance. The role combines financial expertise with a deep understanding of the organisation’s objectives to influence decision making and deliver value-added financial planning and analysis.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts and long-term financial plans for assigned business areas
  • Analyse financial performance and variances against budget and forecast, providing actionable insights and recommendations
  • Develop financial models to support decision making and business case preparation

Business Partnering

  • Build strong relationships with operational managers, acting as their trusted advisor on financial matters
  • Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for cost optimisation and revenue enhancement
  • Support strategic projects, providing financial input and monitoring performance metrics

Reporting and Insights

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, highlighting key trends and areas of concern
  • Present complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Contribute to the development of KPIs and dashboards for better performance tracking

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
  • Support risk assessment and mitigation strategies within the assigned business areas
  • Assist in external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations
  • Lead initiatives to improve financial literacy across the organisation
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to provide innovative solutions

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and business partnering roles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel

 

On Offer:

  • Salary up to £53,500
  • Access to Strathclyde pension fund (19 employer contribution)
  • 36.5 days holiday per year
  • 35 hour working week
  • Early finish on a Friday at 2.30pm
  • Hybrid working: 4 days per week in the office
