Full Job Description

As a Senior Test Engineer - Site Safety, your main focus is to complete electrical safety evaluations for Intertek's global client base at the customer sites. The role will require extensive travelling to multiple client premises in the UK and abroad, mainly Europe, as well as Intertek sites.,

  • Set-up up and delivery of specified test programs on client products at customer sites
  • Performing testing of products in accordance with standards. Core tests include, but are not limited to rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, etc.
  • Validation of the project scope and sample applicability
  • Produce final evaluation and stage reports detailing summary and project findings
  • Review of client requirements and preparation of test plans/quotations in liaison with relevant sales staff
  • Supporting Sales Team during client visits, conference calls or review sessions
  • Providing project updates to customers, as well as Intertek management
  • Preparing of Engineering Work Instructions and SOPs
  • Determine applicability of national/international codes and standards for the product being tested and/or evaluated
  • Conducting thorough construction review and document compliance to applicable standards
  • Communicating project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing. Provide on-going support to clients as needed
  • Identify, properly document, and internally recommend engineering judgments, within policy guidelines

    As a Senior Test Engineer - Site Safety, you will have sound knowledge of component-level electronics., Ability to read and determine applicability of national/international codes and standards for the product being tested and/or evaluated
  • Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams, schematics and manufacturing instructions
  • Experience in testing of products in accordance with standards
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of manufacturing systems
  • Ability to define problems, fault find down to component level, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and make technical decisions
  • Experience in safety critical function design/development of electrical products
  • Experience of generating test reports for customers and certification purposes
  • Experience testing industrial/commercial products to IEC/EN 61010
  • Experience testing industrial/commercial products to UL and CSA standards
  • Physical dexterity to operate equipment and perform other functions necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of the job. This may include bending/stooping, turning/twisting, reaching, balancing etc.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% as business needs dictate
  • Desirable:
  • Background in product safety testing
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
