Full Job Description
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
Applications are invited for two Medical Device IM&T Systems Specialist Engineer posts within the Clinical Engineering/Medical Equipment Management (MEM) Service within NHS Lothian. This is an exciting opportunity to apply for two brand new full-time posts within the service which will perform a new type of role to support the growing number of network-connected medical devices that are operating within NHS Lothian.
The Board now has more than 7,500 medical devices that are either already connected to the hospital network or for which there is a clinical case for connecting the devices to the network. These two postholders will play a central role in managing these systems of devices and server-side applications, from pre-purchase through to the end of their service lives.
The successful candidates will either hold registration as a Clinical Technologist or be eligible to join the register within 12 months of commencement of employment.
You will be required to work at St. Johns Hospital, the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Little France campus and the Western General Hospital. The postholders normal bases are to be confirmed, preferably together providing coverage between the East and West sectors. Your normally working base will be agreed with the Head of Service. There will also be an opportunity for an element of working from home after successfully completing your induction period.
