To provide an effective administrative and clerical service in relation to Waiting List Management.  To ensure the smooth running of this service. Prompt and accurate input of patient details to appropriate waiting lists and booking of elective patients to specialities for all of NHS Lothian and national patients where applicable.   Ensure confirmation of booking to reduce DNA rate and maximise theatre utilisation. Liaise with Wards and Departments regarding bed availability for elective patients.  

Maintain pre-admission with Medical Day Case and with CTS Liaison, highlighting potential problems.

To supervise and support the Medical Secretarial and Administration staff within the Cardiology Department.  Responsible for the daily organisation of secretarial and administration workload.
