We are aiming to recruit to an R&D Coordinator in the NHS Lothian R&D Governance team in the Academic and Clinical Central Office for Research and Development (ACCORD).  This team is located in the Usher building at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.  As a line manager in a busy research governance office, you will be office-based for 2 days/week with the other 3 days remote working at home.

You will be responsible for research governance reviews of commercial and/or non-commercial research studies and amendments, locally sponsored or hosted in Lothian, in compliance with regulatory requirements, UK guidance and local polices and procedures.  This includes identifying any patient welfare, corporate risk, sponsorship or resource issues relating to the study protocols, ensuring that appropriate scientific review is undertaken and that studies are safe, practical and financially viable.

You will liaise closely with Sponsors, Investigators, Pharmacy or other Clinical Support departments to ensure that they are aware of the obligations being placed on them and that their costs have been properly identified and negotiated, where appropriate.

In this role, you will maintain oversight of the portfolio of work under review by you and your team, and ensure that the Scottish Research Database Application (SReDA) contains all relevant data related to study review times to meet targets and objectives set by NHS Research Scotland (NRS) and the Chief Scientists Office (CSO, Scottish Government).

You will have a postgraduate qualification is a relevant discipline (e.g. science) or equivalent experience.  You will have detailed knowledge of the legislation that underpins research in the UK and working knowledge of national processes for reviewing and managing commercially/academically sponsored research, as well as experience of costing commercially sponsored research and negotiating budgets.
