Full Job Description

The primary role of the plate librarian is to maintain the printing plates in a safe, organized and easily accessible storage system and to reorder any damaged plates with the repro/plate suppliers when jobs reappear on the production plan. To create and monitor a cleaning and maintenance schedule for the anilox rollers Key Activities and Responsibilities 1. Maintaining an organized filing system of stored plates and rubber rollers 2. Checking plates for any signs of damage or defect before packaging / protecting them for storage 3. Locating and destroying obsolete plates 4. Placing any plate reorders as and when jobs reappear on the printing programmes when damaged on the previous run 5. Locating plates required according to the scheduled print program and delivering them to the PMR Department 6. Ensure that press packs with all the colour matching requirements and stored within the relevant plate folder 7. Completion of all relevant paperwork and documentation 8. Creating and monitoring a cleaning schedule for the anilox rollers to ensure they continue to deliver the volume expected 9. Assisting in other areas of the print department where required Health, Safety, Hygiene and the Environment 1. Ensuring all work activities are carried out in accordance with the companies :

  • Health and safety management system and statutory legislation
  • ISO 14001 certification and statutory environmental legislation
  • British Retail Consortium / Royal Society for Public Health accreditation
  • American Institute of Bakers accreditation
  • 2. Maintaining high standards of hygiene and housekeeping in the work area and completion of cleaning schedules / documentation in areas of designated responsibility (including plate library and print wash room) 3. Ensure tools and cleaning equipment are returned to shadow boards after use Change Management, Projects and Improvement Initiatives 1. Active participation in initiatives to improve :
