Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday Friday, 0700-1500 or 0800-1600, Weekend Saturday/ Sunday 0800-1630. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join the Addiction team within NHS Prison Health Care at HMP Low Moss. We work alongside our colleagues in the Scottish Prison Service as well as many other partner agencies to improve the physical, mental health and wellbeing of those living in prison.
The post holder is operationally responsible and professionally accountable to the charge nurse and nurse team leader.
This post is peripatetic across all four prisons in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board Area covering HMP Low Moss, HMP Barlinnie, HMP Greenock and Lilias community custody unit. Although you will be assigned a base, you will be expected to cross cover sites to meet the exigencies of the service.

It is essential that you are a:

  • First Level Registered Nurse
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and have post registration experience working within a relevant clinical setting.
  • Have an understanding of ADRS services and the relevant guidance and guidelines that influence care
  • Awareness of professional and clinical accountability, legal issues, role limitations and boundaries and balancing duty of care and public safety issues.
  • Literate in current IT techniques
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
