Full Job Description
The Medical Directorate is responsible to the NES Board and through the Board to Scottish Government for the commissioning and delivery of postgraduate medical education in Scotland. This training is delivered in general practices and health boards to standards set by the General Medical Council (GMC). The role of the Directorate is to oversee training, manage the trainee's progress through the training programme and ensure the training is delivered to GMC standards. The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast paced and innovative team delivering complex, multifaceted programmes of work to deliver high quality medical education and training across Scotland, helping to ensure that the sector has the right people, in the right place, at the right time. Reporting to the Associate Director of Medicine you will lead the delivery of four vital workstreams, Undergraduate Medical Additional Costs of Teaching (ACT), Academic Training, Medical Directorate Support and Professional Development. You will have the opportunity to develop yourself and support your teams by working collaboratively across NES and with external organisations to deliver our operational plan and strategic objectives. Working within the Medical Directorate you will have the opportunity to bring your unique skills and experience to the table, collaborating across multiple workstreams to effect real change with the delivery of medical education and training across Scotland
- Ability to build highly effective relations internally and externally is key as well as excellent facilitation, presentation and strategic thinking and analysis skills.
- Significant leadership experience working with executive and senior management teams in complex environments insert text as per guidance document
- Expertise of design and successful implementation of change programmes
- Significant experience of effective planning, delivering with impact, focus on learning and improvement, communicating with impact
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others, utilising tact and persuasion skills when necessary
- Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workloads, to meet strict deadlines
