Brief job description: Our Clients are world leaders in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of advanced vacuum and controlled atmosphere furnace equipment. The Client is a strategic part of one of the world’s largest groups developing technologies for the melting and processing of high-performance metals and alloys. ISO 9001 certified, with operations worldwide.
They currently seek a Project / Installation Planning Manager to join their team based in Eurocentral, Lanarkshire. This position requires travel to customer sites both in the UK and abroad.
ROLE
The successful applicant will be responsible for the strategic planning and organisation of vacuum furnace equipment installations at their customers’ sites worldwide. Reporting to their Electrical Engineering and Commissioning Manager, they will plan, schedule, organise and monitor all aspects of equipment installation projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, schedule, organise and monitor the installation of new vacuum furnace projects
• Identify, secure and deploy the required engineering resources to customers’ site
• Working with the Service & Installation Coordinator, ensure all necessary equipment, tools and ancillary supplies are immediately available to the Installation Engineer onsite
• Monitor compliance to specifications, applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies and performance standards
• Interact daily with customers and the Installation team to ensure project requirements are being achieved
• Perform / monitor overall project control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, performance) and report regularly, internally and externally, on project status.
• Attend project progress meetings and give periodic internal and external updates.
• Make visits to customers’ site, either in the UK or worldwide, to establish the installation requirements, monitor ongoing progress and support the Installation Engineering team, as required.
• Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions or improvement plans.
• Resolve any technical issues, queries or concerns as they arise
• Maintain overview of all ongoing installation projects, including individual project specifications and terms and conditions
• Produce detailed project schedules and report on agreed KPIs including but not limited to on time delivery, costs to budget and customer satisfaction
• Cooperate and communicate effectively with all Company departments and Senior Management to provide assistance and technical support
• Monitor site health, safety and environmental management arrangements
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and implement best practices in project management.
KEY SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
Essential
• HNC or degree in Engineering discipline, or extensive relevant experience
• Experience in project planning / management
• Excellent organisational skills, with a systematic approach to implementing and completing projects within time, cost and scope
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and inspire a highly experienced and technologically advanced team of engineers.
• Must be empathetic and capable of managing and directing the team of service engineers
• Must be available to travel in the UK and worldwide
