Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An opportunity for two radiology assistants has arisen to work in our busy Radiography Department based at Caithness General Hospital, Wick.

Our professional, friendly and supportive imaging team is committed to both excellence and high standards.

You will be assisting patients, Sonographers, Radiographers and Radiologists when undertaking a range of Diagnostic Imaging techniques performed through-out the Department.  Maintaining patient dignity and comfort is essential.

We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic, and caring team players who have the ability to provide assistant and reassurance to our service users at what can often be a challenging time for them.  Communication skills are essential for this role.

In house training will be provided to enhance skills in health care and IT as required.

There are two permanent posts available, one full time post, working 37 hours per week, to be worked Monday to Friday, and one part time post of 14.8 hours per week, which would be worked over two days or as per service requirements.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

Informal enquiries would be welcomed by Kirstin Mackay, Diagnostic Imaging Team Lead. Tel: /245

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
