Full Job Description

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a key contributor in building, maintaining, and improving the foundational CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) services provided by the Hub Platform Engineering Team. This includes developing and refining tooling, templates, and shared code for CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and Kubernetes operations. Your role will focus on enhancing automation, scalability, and security to enable Spoke Teams to deliver high-quality applications more efficiently. You'll work closely with Platform Engineers from across the organisation to integrate industry best practices and standards, ensuring a cohesive approach to development, deployment, and operations.,

  • CI/CD Tooling: Develop, maintain, and support a suite of CI/CD tools, including Jenkins, SonarQube, GitHub, HashiCorp Vault, RedHat Satellite, and Azure DevOps. Ensure these tools are optimized to support best practices for code quality, security, testing, and deployment.
  • CI/CD Templates and Base Images: Create and manage reusable templates and base images for various languages, frameworks, and platforms, such as Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, and Terraform for Azure and GCP. Implement best practices around code structure, configuration, and dependencies to facilitate faster deployment cycles.
  • Terraform Shared Code: Collaborate with the Azure and GCP Cloud Platform Teams to provide consumer modules for managing cloud infrastructure. Enable Spoke Teams to define their cloud resources in a consistent, reusable manner, applying organizational policies and standards.
  • Shared Code for Kubernetes Operations: Develop and maintain shared code for operating Kubernetes and supporting tools like ArgoCD for GitOps. Provide standardised Helm templates for deploying essential workloads such as Prisma Defender, AppDynamics, Secret Management, Certificate Management, and DNS, to support scalable, resilient, and secure application deployment.
  • Collaboration and Support: Serve as a technical advisor for Spoke Teams, assisting them in integrating and leveraging the Hub Platform's tools and templates. Ensure open-source contributions from Spoke Teams are integrated into our standards.

Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and experience with Terraform for cloud infrastructure provisioning, ideally with Azure or GCP.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, Azure DevOps) and managing CI/CD pipelines in enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in containerisation and Kubernetes, with a solid understanding of cloud-agnostic container operations.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of GitOps practices, including managing ArgoCD and Helm templates.
  • In-depth knowledge of code quality, security practices, and automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience with additional CI/CD and security tools like SonarQube, HashiCorp Vault, or RedHat Satellite.
  • Previous exposure to multi-cloud environments and a strong understanding of cloud-native services.
  • Familiarity with Prisma Defender, AppDynamics, and other tools for securing and monitoring Kubernetes workloads.
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects, particularly in the DevOps space.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and familiarity with auditing and compliance in CI/CD workflows.

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate's experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
