This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and supervisory experience in the following 9-monthly rotations across Dundee: Respiratory (including ICU and HDU), Orthopaedics, Acute Medicine, Neurosciences / Stroke, Community Rehabilitation and Musculoskeletal Outpatients. This is also an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to work with the multidisciplinary teams to provide high quality care to patients admitted to Ninewells Hospital Major Trauma Centre.

This is an exciting time for a forward thinking HCPC registered Physiotherapist with well developed clinical and communication skills to join us as we continue to expand and develop our Physiotherapy services. This post provides the potential to enhance your knowledge and skills in a busy and fast paced environment with a focus on evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, early supported discharge, multi-professional  integrated working and continued professional development. The post holder will deliver physiotherapy interventions and develop therapeutic programmes and discharge pathways to meet the needs of the patients referred to the service.

You should have demonstrable high level clinical skills/knowledge, from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your continued professional development portfolio with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across the specialities. You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge, have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and research. The department has strong links with Universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

This post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside.  This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care.  All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7 days service/rota to enable the service to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.

You will also undertake respiratory on call duties (weekend and week day rota) after a period of training and supported induction in line with local respiratory training standards.
