Full Job Description
Highland Trauma Unit, Ward 3A, is a 30 bedded unit who are currently looking to recruit Band 3 Health Care Support Workers to join our busy, hard working and friendly team. We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and motivated staff who have an interest in caring for patients with Orthopaedic injuries and who possess excellent organisational and time management skills. The nursing team work 12.5 hour shifts and this includes both day and night shifts. Orthopaedic experience is not necessary.
We have a well-established team who work very well together to provide a high standard of nursing care for our patients. We deal with a wide range of injuries which result from trauma including hip fractures, long bone fractures, spinal injuries, soft tissue injuries, infections and any other injuries relating to Orthopaedics. We also accept the stepdown of patients belonging to the area from the Major Trauma Centres. We also care for many patients who suffer with Dementia and have ongoing training for all staff and have a member of staff allocated as our Dementia Champion Nurse.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
