Full Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an early career museum professional looking to gain invaluable experience in front of house museum work. The position sits within the Research Services Team, part of Heritage Collections, a dynamic department with a wide range of users. This open-ended, part-time (21 hours per week) post requires on-campus working at St Cecilia's Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum. The successful candidate will report to the St Cecilia's Hall Curator and work across teams to deliver an excellent visitor experience while having the opportunity to develop skills in events management, museum interpretation and office administration.

What the job involves:

Support the delivery of Heritage Collections services by providing a front-line service to visitors and users of St Cecilia's Hall.
Support facilitation of pre-booked group visits and ad hoc events; manage signing in procedures and appointments at welcome desk; facilitate private hire events including responding to enquiries, taking bookings and arranging fee payment.
Support the St Cecilia's Hall Curator and Civic Engagement Team with administrative tasks including scheduling events, posting social media content, collating information for exhibitions and interpretation, and managing mailings lists.
Support facilities management through fault reporting, acting as a first point of contact for Estates and Buildings, liaising with Collections Management and Conservation colleagues, and undertaking Health and Safety duties.
A bit about you

Front line customer service experience including experience of working in a relevant visitor attraction, e.g. a museum or heritage site.
Ability to work in a busy environment
Competent numeracy and literacy skills.
Capable of fulfilling the physical demands of the role, such as moving furniture for events set up.
Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
