Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity within our Garment Making Team at Edinburgh College of Art for a Specialist Knit Technician. Working across programmes, predominantly to support undergraduate Fashion & Performance Costume students throughout year groups and more intensely with final year students making final collections for Graduate Show, Fashion Show and Performance Costume Shows. The Knit workroom is a facility of growth, reaching more students each year and expanding into Textiles programmes as well as other disciplines within the School of Design and the School of Art.

We welcome applications from dynamic, well organised creative individuals looking to work in a fast paced, diverse and rewarding environment., Either HNC/HND or equivalent level vocational qualifications plus relevant work experience
Experience in delivering instructional training in domestic and industrial knitting and garment making processes and techniques to students of a wide range of abilities via a range of methods (in-person, digital etc
A wide knowledge of knitted techniques and garment production, including a high level of competence to operate and maintain relevant machinery
Experience of interpreting garment designs and understanding concepts and requirements.
Firm grasp of the health and safety in workplace with students as the primary user.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), and due to the student facing role, is campus based. The position is fixed term maternity cover for approximately one year.
