NHS Lothian Clinical Health Psychology Service is delighted to be offering a 0.6 wte permanent Band 7 Applied Psychologist/CAAP post in our Psycho-Oncology service, based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.

Clinical Health Psychology is a Lothian-wide service, supporting patients to adjust to acute and chronic physical health conditions. We have over 25 staff working across 15 specialist services, including Pain Management, Weight Management, Psycho-Oncology and ME/CFS. We offer interventions in a range of intensities and modalities, including group and individual therapy, as well as consultancy, supervision and training.

The psycho-oncology team provides a valuable and well-respected and supported service to patients accessing specialist treatment at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre.  The psycho-oncology service is part of a large, friendly Physical Health Psychology Service, which includes a skill-mix of Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Health Psychologists, CAAPs and Assistant Psychologists.   Individual clinical supervision will be provided by an experienced clinical health psychologist with expertise in this clinical speciality.  There will also be other opportunities to participate in peer-group therapy specific supervision and wider team meetings.   Interested persons are encouraged to contact Dr Audrey Matthews, Senior Clinical Health Psychologist to discuss the role. Contact number:  .

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
