Full Job Description

The Psychology Department, which has a complement of around 80 staff, has psychologists and psychological therapists in all major specialties and is a friendly, supportive and lively place of work.

We currently have strong links with Edinburgh and Stirling / Dundee Universities and take trainees from the Edinburgh Doctoral course and from the MSc course in Stirling / Dundee.

We also provide placements and supervision for trainee CBT and other psychological therapists.

The Older Adult Psychology Service is a strong and supportive team, who are committed to improving the mental health needs of older adults living in Dumfries and Galloway.

Work is varied; direct referrals are received of older adults with a range of clinical presentations including depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment and loss, across a range of clinical settings.

Training, supervision and indirect work is also carried out to support other agencies working with older people with mental health needs.

The team also work across the dementia pathway and conduct neuropsychological assessments to help support a timely and accurate diagnosis of dementia.

The Older Adult Psychology team consists of dedicated staff skilled in a range of psychological models including CBT, systemic, ACT, IPT and EMDR.

The team has regular staff meetings and supervision and CPD are supported. The post has dedicated CPD and supervision time.
