Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Medical team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Our team provides input to the acute medical receiving unit and the medical wards of this busy acute teaching hospital. We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Occupational Therapist to join our team.

Applicants should have:

  • Excellent communication, time management and prioritisation skills.
  • A high standard of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention skills.
  • Clinical experience working as an Occupational Therapist within an acute or rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience of providing clinical or nonclinical supervision.

In return we offer formal supervision, development opportunities and peer support from an experienced and friendly team.

There are strong network links to the hospital via bus services.

Candidates who are currently in a Band 5 post and wish to develop their career are encouraged to apply along with those already in a Band 6 post.  Flexibility with working days, job share, and times of work will also be considered. There will be a commitment to weekend working in the occupational therapy team at RIE as part of the 5 over 7 day working pattern.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss options further with the contacts listed below.
