Principal Clinical Psychologist (8B) Maternity & Neonatal Psychological Interventions Team

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to take a lead in coordination and delivery of specialist psychological provision in a developing, dynamic team.

The Maternity and Neonatal Psychological Interventions (MNPI) Team provides assessment, treatment and care to women, families and staff across both maternity (antenatal and postnatal) and neonatal specialities on an in-patient and out-patient basis across the whole of NHS Lothian. This is a service developed in response to a number of drivers including recommendations made in the Scottish Governments Best Start Plan for Maternity and Neonatal Services and the National Managed Clinical Network for perinatal and infant mental health Needs Assessment and Service Recommendations for Specialist and Universal Perinatal Mental Health Services. The team serve a population of approximately 9,000 births per year and 1,000 admissions to the neonatal units.

The postholder will provide direct and indirect psychological intervention within the service alongside highly specialised clinical supervision, teaching, training and consultancy. They will also hold a role in continued strategic development, collaborating with colleagues across perinatal and infant mental health teams, as well as wider services within the health board and other sectors, to provide continuity of psychological care.
