Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and self-motivated Immunisation Nurse Specialist to join our Health Care Public Health Division within the Directorate of Public Health and Health Policy. We are seeking an individual who is committed to embedding public health principles into local delivery of immunisation programmes, including tackling health inequalities in immunisation and working to increase uptake of vaccinations across the population of NHS Lothian.

The post-holder will join the Public Health Immunisation Team and will provide specialist immunisation advice to patients, clinical and non-clinical staff across NHS and their partners. The focus will include responding to routine and occasionally complex clinical vaccination queries, delivery of education and training, contributing to improvement measures following adverse incidents and supporting vaccination outreach in the community to marginalised groups.

Good communication skills and team working are essential in this role, working collaboratively with internal and external partners, the Senior Immunisation Nurse Specialist and the Vaccination Programme Manager to tackle inequalities across the population of Lothian and support the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality immunisation programmes.

The main departmental office base is presently at Waverly Gate but we are moving before the end of the year to offices at West Port. NHS Lothian currently operates an agile working model - supporting a blend of working at home and days on site each week. The ability to work flexibility and from various locations throughout Lothian are also essential.

The department of Public Health and Health Policy aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland. The department is organised around Population Health, Healthcare Public Health and Health Protection as the three domains of public health.

There is a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary public health reflected in the range of staff within the department.
