0.5WTE (18.5 hours) Band 7 Major Trauma

Children and Young Peoples Physiotherapy Service RHCYP Edinburgh

We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking physiotherapist to join our inpatient team as clinical lead for Major Trauma. This role is part of a multidisciplinary team who work collaboratively to support children and young people to recover after a major trauma. The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People is one of three Paediatric Major Trauma Centres in Scotland and provides care to children and young people across the South East of Scotland. As well as working with the Major Trauma Team, this is an opportunity to work with experienced physiotherapists across MSK, Major Trauma, Spinal Service, Respiratory, Neurology as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team to develop knowledge and skills within a children and young people setting.

You will join a team who predominantly deliver inpatient rehabilitation services to children and young people up to 16 years who have been admitted following a traumatic injury. The AHP rehabilitation team work closely with the trauma coordinators and other members of the trauma team to develop a person-centred rehabilitation plan focussed on early intervention to maximise recovery. This post is largely based within the inpatient setting, there may be some cases where rehabilitation is delivered in other settings within the community to meet the needs of the children and young people. As the Major Trauma Centre covers the South East of Scotland there is a need to work with rehabilitation teams in other health boards to support service delivery. We are looking for a physiotherapist with relevant clinical experience across a range of specialties who is passionate about delivering safe, effective person-centred care by working in partnership with children, young people and their families. The age of the population we see means that experience working with children and young people in healthcare settings is beneficial but not essential. This post would suit someone who is interested in the clinical area and is committed to life-long learning to develop themselves and others to ensure ongoing service development to meet the needs of those who need to use the service.  As a service, we are committed to ensuring staff have the resources available to them to support continuing professional development across the 4 pillars of practice.

There is a requirement for on call within this role and support and training is provided.

We would encourage anyone who is interested to get in touch and come for a visit as you may find this is the post you have been looking for!
