NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

Emergency Department
Senior Research Nurse, Band 6
1 year Fixed Term contract
Up to 37hrs/week (Full or Part Time)
The Emergency Department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has a worldwide reputation for research. In order to coordinate and support the expanding portfolio of research, audit and service improvement, the Emergency Medicine Research Group Edinburgh (EMERGE) was formed in 2008 and continues to grow.
We are currently recruiting an experienced, band 6 senior research nurse to coordinate and support a range of research projects. The post will involve screening and recruitment activities, assisting with the care of research participants, teaching, and collecting and managing research data. The scope of studies and projects is expanding, creating an exciting and leading research specialty to work within.
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with a genuine interest in clinical research, who has experience working in research and/or the Emergency Department or critical/acute care setting. The successful candidate will need to understand the dynamic and challenging environment of the ED and how that translates to research activity. The post holder will work alongside other senior research nurses and will be supported by the EMERGE team. Please take a look at the EMERGE website for more information www.emergeresearch.org
Secondment will be subject to agreement from your Line Manager.
