Full Job Description
Accountable to the REAS Services Director for the effective direct delivery, performance, and governance of a wide range of national, regional and Lothian wide specialist services, including the direct operational management and strategic planning of the agreed services and their resources, ensuring resources are maximised to meet the Directorates targets and objectives, within the allocated budget.
The post holder is responsible for establishing effective partnership working and contract negotiations with national, regional NHS and non-NHS related agencies where there is a requirement for health service provision to be delivered for the complex needs of the populations served by those agencies and services, including:
Scottish Prison Service Prison Healthcare (the post holder is NHS Lothian Board lead for Prison Healthcare)
Sudexo Justice Services, Prison Healthcare Addiewell
5 Nations Health and Justice Committee
Police Scotland Custody Healthcare on behalf of four health boards. NHS Forth Valley, Fife and Borders Custody Healthcare
National Forensic Network
The post holder represents NHS Lothian on several specialist service Regional Planning Groups and is responsible for ensuring Service Level Agreements, Memorandums of Understanding and Collaborative Service Delivery Agreements are negotiated in accordance with the service needs of NHS Lothian and each NHS Board / agency and are operationally delivered to the required standards of safety, effectiveness and efficiency.
As a member of REAS SMT support the Adult and Older Peoples mental Health services and Learning Disabilities Service. Providing cross cover for the General Manager in that area.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
