Do you want to work for an organisation that values difference and includes everyone? Then the Environment Agency is the organisation for you!

The post holder will be part of a team that provides technical HS&W standards, supporting processes and associated training, covering the broad range of activities undertaken by the Environment Agency.

We would like to keep applications for 6 months, should we have an additional assignment role within the team for up to 12 months.

Your work will be varied around the HS&W topics you will be leading on.

-Understanding the operation of the organisation to continually improve the supporting HS&W processes which keep people safe and well.
-Creating training and awareness tools and delivering these.
-Collating and analysing data related to your topic to identify trends and risks and making recommendations for improvement, mitigation or control.
-Identifying opportunities from best practice in other organisations and applying it here.
-Developing and implementing campaigns to promote changes instigated by legal amendments or adoption of new technologies.

Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment. Further information on incident response can be found within your candidate pack.

The Environment Agency (EA) Health, Safety & Wellbeing team sits within the People and Assurance function within the Strategy, Transformation and Assurance directorate. We provide the right services and operational delivery to enable colleagues across the business to be the best they can be, so that we can maximise outcomes for the environment and communities.

Desirable: Experience of managing the HS&W risks of working in the regulation sector, such as waste, installations or water industry.

We will encourage you to improve your knowledge and understanding of HS&W legislation and best practice by joining a professional organisation such as IOSH (Institute of Occupational Health and Safety).

You'll also be comfortable working with people at all levels of the business. An innate curiosity about the subject and people will be of huge benefit as well as an excellent attitude to customer service.

Being able to listen, learn and apply the learning will be essential.
