We are looking for enthusiastic and proactive individuals to deliver regulatory and environmental outcomes to drive a circular economy You will be part of the Combined Packaging Regime ensuring that companies are disposing of their waste correctly - 'right waste, right place'. This role is on our new Civil Sanctions team and you will be investigating potential non-compliance under the Packaging Extended Producer Responsibility Regulations. Our Civil Sanctions range from Enforcement Undertakings to Fixed and Variable Monetary Penalties. This is a nationally dispersed team - travel is essential. - Lead investigations under the PEPR regulations
- Collate, analyse and use complex data to make evidence-based regulatory compliance decisions.
- Deal with confidential and sensitive information in line with data protection guidelines.
- Assist & advise colleagues on Civil Sanctions
- Undertake field and desk-based producer compliance audits
- Obtain witness statements & undertake Police & Criminal Evidence Act (1984) compliant interviews under caution
- Maintain the integrity of exhibits, providing support for the disclosure of material
- Complete casefiles for our legal teams Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You may be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. The team The Combined Packaging Regime is a supportive and inclusive team that encourages health, safety, wellbeing, and development. We help to protect and improve the environment by regulating industry, ensuring compliance, and eliminating illegal activities. Our department improves the quality of recycling to ensure waste entering and leaving the country is handled appropriately for recycling and recovery. Key areas we regulate are: Packaging Waste, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Batteries and International Waste Shipments.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, embracing virtual communication technology.
- Organisation, time management and planning skills to deliver a varied workload with conflicting deadlines.
- Flexibility and adaptable to change.
- Confidence in handing large quantities of data and sound attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Ability to handle difficult or confrontational conversations.
- Ability to travel nationally (Full UK Driving License essential)
- Excellent influencing skills and success in developing good relations.
- Experience of undertaking criminal investigations: Obtaining witness statements, disclosure, handling exhibits, and submitting case files is desirable.
- A good understanding of intelligence, how to interpret and use it appropriately.
- Sound knowledge of Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (1996) & Police & Criminal Evidence Act (1984) is desirable.
