ABOUT THE JOB

The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and compliance with statutory and tax reporting requirements are met. Supporting the Assistant Global Controller and coordinating with key global stakeholders such as Site Finance Managers, Dover Business Services – our shared service organisation, internal and external auditors, and other professional firms. 

This role may suit either a move from Practice into industry, or a candidate wishing to build on their existing industry experience.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accountancy would be highly desirable, along with steps taken towards becoming qualified (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW etc.)
  • Over three years of full-time work experience within an accounting function - some payroll experience would also desirable, but not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, being able to build & maintain relationships at all levels in a complex, matrix-style environment
  • The ability to perform idependently with limited supervision at times, using self-initiative and professional judgement

We would also value experience within;

  • Multi-currency environment
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • US-UK GAAP, UK Corporation Tax and Auditing

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Accurately analyse assigned general ledger accounts, maintaining detailed records/support and preparing and reviewing account reconciliations as assigned
  • Manage assigned areas of the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes including lease accounting, fixed assets and taxation
  • Support internal and external audits (including those by HMRC)
  • Support accurate corporation tax reporting
  • Build and maintain relationship with DBS and other business stakeholders, acting as an escalation point to resolve any complex issues
  • Independently evaluate, recommend, and implement changes in methods and procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounting function in a continuous improvement environment
  • Help ensure procedures and controls are operating as designed to comply with Dover Core Internal Controls (CIC), internal/external audits and with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
