Full Job Description

Wood is looking for an Accountant to join our busy finance team in Aberdeen, Scotland. We will consider those who are already at Accountant level or Associate level who would like to take the next step in their career. We can offer this position on a flexible hybrid basis. Job Objective: To ensure all accounting entries within the individuals area of control (i.e. project, contract, service line) are recorded in an accurate and timely manner. This involves the provision of timely reporting of financial data internally to business stakeholders and externally to the client. Furthermore, financial reporting will extend to forecasts, budgets and a "no surprises" outlook, together with ad-hoc financial analysis. In some cases this also requires the management of a small team Responsibilities Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all accounting entries are prepared accurately and in line with corporate deadlines
  • Ensure invoices are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with the commercial terms of the contract
  • Ensure results are accurately reported and analysed Calculation of billing and cost rates, and analysis of margins to manage profitability
  • Preparation of annual plan and quarterly reforecast in conjunction with Business Management and Finance team
  • Responsibility for compliance with Financial management Framework within the individual's sphere of control
  • Focus on cash collection, optimisation of DSO and minimisation of unbilled items together with ensuring these balance sheet areas are appropriately reconciled, analysed and controlled
  • Liaising with external, internal and client auditors
  • Linkage with business manager and contracts administrator regarding any contractual aspects
  • Execution of various ad hoc financial analysis and tasks as and when required

    Further education through College or University with a recognised accounting qualification
  • Preferably working towards CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent
  • Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Relevant accounting experience
  • Proficient user of Excel
  • People supervision skills
  • Good commercial knowledge
  • Good systems experience (e.g. Oracle, Hyperion)
