Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by an oil service company to source an Accountant on a full time basis. This maternity cover contract is due to run for an initial period of 12 months. This role is based in Aberdeen City with hybrid working and flexibility.

This role will be responsible for preparation of accurate and timely management accounts and reports and will ensure reporting, forecasting and invoicing objectives are met. Ideal candidates will have general accounting experience and be available to start within one month.

The Opportunity

• Preparation and reporting of management accounts
• Preparation of budgets and forecasts for the business area
• Preparation of financial analysis compared to budget/forecast
• Preparation of customer profitability analysis
• Liaise with Commercial team to support tenders/pricing activities
• Introduce and amend processes to improve system benefits, reporting, working capital management and deliver financial KPI targets
• Question and challenge current processes and assumptions within the business area
• Provide financial information to operational areas and increase financial understanding of operational managers
• Work with operational teams to deliver business and financial improvements
• Prepare accurate and relevant balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely manner
• Understanding of customer contracts and operational/financial drivers
• Delivery of audit schedules and liaison with auditors

Background and Experience

• Appropriate Educational Background with minimum school/college qualifications
• A level of accounting experience
• Focus on detail, accuracy and consistency
• Professional and commercial outlook
• Ability to deliver accurate and timely financial information
• Ability to meet deadlines and take projects to completion
• Awareness and appreciation of cashflow and the implications of actions on cash
• Strong Excel skills and experience of ERP systems
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience in a similar role / industry
• Desire to progress through a business and develop personally and professionally
