iMultiply is working in partnership with a well-known Edinburgh based Accountancy Firm to recruit an Accounts Assistant Manager.
The Practice
A well-renowned and highly regarded Accountancy Firm based in the centre of Edinburgh. The department is going through a steady period of growth and they are looking to recruit people who can grow with the department and the wider Firm.
The Role
The role is a newly created position as they look to enhance their Accounts and Outsourcing team. The position offers excellent progression opportunities and the chance to work with some excellent clients.
Day-to-day you will be responsible for;
- Work will involve business advisory and outsourcing services as well as accounts compliance work. Will be expected to work without supervision at times.
- Ability to produce forecasts, projections and business plans using relevant software.
- Provide clients with monthly management information in a range of formats, using technology and dashboards as appropriate.
- Accurately prepares more complicated entities accounting compliance work using compliance procedures.
- Maintains and updates technical knowledge of UK GAAP and other relevant accounting frameworks.
- Confidently engages with clients on accounting issues and brings more complex issues to the attention of senior staff.
- Assists in identifying, researching and resolving accounting issues.
- Reviews completed returns for accuracy, uses deductive reasoning to identify anomalies, issues or gaps to raise ahead of manager/RI review.
- Knows how finance and accounting functions and supporting technology can differ by industry and business structure, what is required from a compliance perspective and what is considered a standard or best practice.
- Provides clients with advice on day to day accounting transactions and appropriate accounting treatment.
- Identifies opportunities to use add-on applications to improve business processing efficiency for the firm and the client.
- Able to tailor standard management reports to the specific reporting needs of the client using relevant software
- Understands the finance and accounting functions generally performed by a business and common best practices/processes for how they operate.
- Prepares standard KPI dashboards from the client’s accounting system, using templates.
- Able to hold a meaningful conversation with clients, new businesses or junior members of staff as to the rules and regulations of doing business in the UK.
- Able to identify circumstances that require more specialist advice and bring in others as appropriate.
- Prepares budgets for clients’ management purposes
To be considered for the role you will ideally have;
- A minimum of 3 years experience working in an Accountancy Firm
- A professional accountancy qualification
- A client led approach
