Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday Friday 8.30-5pm.

This post is to plan, organise, prioritise and maintain the day to day administrative tasks associated with the functionality of the BWOSCC, Macmillan Day Unit.

Duties include:

  • Act as a focal point for patients attending, ensuring all demographic information is kept up to date in the patients records and on the patient administration system.
  • Provide support for Team Lead when required to deal with referral management, which included to accurately record and process the referral from point of receipt onto the patient pathway and to schedule, in conjunction with the patient an appointment that meets both clinical priority, the relevant waiting time target and New Way rules.
  • Liaising with clinicians to plan management of patients.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries from internal/external agencies, ensuring capacity is utilised to full potential.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of data input and will collate and summarise information from the database to provide statistical reports for management.
  • Provide cover for Clinical Bed Manager with the management of emergency and elective admissions for Specialist Oncology Services and Clinical Haematology at Beatson West of Cancer Centre.
