Full Job Description

As a Safer Custody Administrator, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility, contributing to the safe and effective administration of our prison environment.

We know that candidates may be apprehensive about the thought of working in a prison environment. However, at HMP Addiewell we foster an environment of rehabilitation and development whilst ensuring a secure and safe environment to work in. You will be fully supported by our staff, who will always ensure that you feel comfortable and safe to confidently fulfil your duties.

Whilst the role is varied and you can be expected to carry out a variety of tasks, some of the key areas you will likely be involved in are:

  • To assist in the management and implementation of ongoing Safer Custody strategies such as, Talk to Me, Violence Reduction and Addiction & Recovery.

  • To manage administrative work and filing, including drafting responses to written communication.

  • To assist with audits in relation to Safer Custody, Violence Reduction, and Addictions Recovery.

  • Minute taking at Safer Custody and other meetings where appropriate.

  • Supporting the Safer Custody Manager and the Addictions and Recovery Manager compile monthly statistics for the Director and Senior Leadership Teams.

  • Whilst some administration experience would be advantageous, we would still encourage you to apply if you meet the following criteria:
  • Some experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.

  • Awareness of GDPR principles.

  • Proactive, innovative, and eager to learn and develop.

  • Demonstration of excellent organisational skills, even under pressure.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Reliable, integrous, and professional.

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a target-driven environment.

  • Thrives both independently and collaboratively within a team.
