Full Job Description

The role of the Hospital at Home service is a short term, consultant led targeted intervention that provides a level of acute hospital care in an individuals own home, or homely setting (i.e. care home). The service provides prevention and early intervention reducing the need for hospital admission and facilitating earlier discharge and supported step down from hospital for ongoing treatment where safe to do so.

To support the essential clinical work of the Hospital at Home service, we are looking to recruit an administrator. This post will provide administrative support to the clinical team based at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, and will play a critical role in maintaining a single point of access and referral process to the service.

You should be educated to SVQ III or HNC in an administrative, secretarial, or business context and/or have equivalent NHS experience.  A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Excel and a knowledge of developing and maintaining databases is vital as you will be required to manage an electronic referral system and database. Excellent telephone and communication skills will be essential as well as the ability to work flexibly including some public holidays.  A positive outlook in relation to high quality customer care and team working is also required.

If you feel that you can play an active part in this evolving service, we would like to hear from you.

Applications on a secondment basis will be considered providing you have prior agreement from your current line manager.

For informal enquiries, please contact Nikki Thomson, Community Care Services, Admin Manager on or email: nicola.thomson7@nhs.scot.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
