If so, we are seeking to recruit a Pharmacist to join the friendly and supportive Aseptic team in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Applications are welcomed from Pharmacists with no previous aseptic experience. Pharmacists will be given the time, training and resources to gain the background knowledge required for this specialist area before moving on to gain experience in the varied roles offered by this post.

This is a new post following funding approval in response to the growing Systemic-Anti Cancer Services in NHS Tayside. NHS Tayside hosts one of only thirteen Aseptic Dispensing Units in Scotland. The unit is based at Ninewells Hospital and the main function is to prepare and supply ready to administer patient specific doses of injectable chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition to patients across NHS Tayside

Ninewells is a major teaching hospital in NHS Tayside, Scotlands fourth largest healthcare provider, delivering a wide range of specialties.  Within the ADU you will work with the Accountable Pharmacist, three other Deputy Accountable Pharmacists and an excellent team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers. 

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and development of a high quality, patient-centred aseptic service, including checking and releasing aseptic products, carrying out product stability assessments and participation in, and preparation, for internal and external audits and the delivery of service improvement plans. 

For a band 7 level the post holder will be a registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council and have completed the NES post-registration foundation training programme or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and behaviours.* 

For a band 8a level the post holder should have a post graduate Diploma/MSc or be able to demonstrate evidence of advanced professional practice knowledge, training and experience equivalent to that level (e.g development of evidence within the core advanced pharmacist practice portfolio) 

* Pharmacists employed at band 7 level would be expected to engage with the core advanced pharmacist practice programme.

The post holder will be required to contribute to weekend, extended hours and public holiday rotas as per service requirement
