Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board., The successful candidate will undertake a broad range of testing procedures on a variety of samples referred to the Service. The post-holder will generate genetic test results and consequently must work in a careful and meticulous manner and adhere to all laboratory standard operating procedures. You will work with Senior Clinical Scientists to develop and deliver genomic testing for a range of inherited and acquired disorders, in addition you will work closely with the Technical Team lead to direct the work of Assistants, Associates and Senior Practitioners to deliver the majority of practical work required for an effective Service.

Continued professional development and training will be actively encouraged to enable the successful applicant to achieve appropriate registration as a Healthcare Science Practitioner.

The Regional Genetic Service is a large friendly team of Technical, Scientific and Clinical staff who provide a first-class service to patients and families from Tayside /NE Fife and elsewhere in Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for an applicant to further their career within a diagnostic Genetic Service., Some of our vacancies are for internal candidates only. If you are a member of staff, please ensure you update your Jobtrain profile to reflect that you are employed by NHS Tayside
